Universal Credit
Universal Credit
Universal Credit is a new benefit that is expected to eventually replace six existing benefits with a single monthly payment. The benefits that Universal Credit is expected to replace include the following:
Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Income Support
Working Tax Credit
Child Tax Credit
Housing Benefit
If you currently receive any of the above benefits, it is expected that in the future you will eventually transfer to Universal Credit.
When is it happening?
The Government is introducing Universal Credit slowly. It is already active for new claims in a few small areas in GB and is gradually being extended.
We will inform our residents as and when Universal Credit, is likely to be introduced in Northern Ireland.
